Sydney jockey Sam Clipperton will head to New Zealand next weekend to ride in the Group I Telegraph (1200m) at Trentham.
Trainer Chris McNab has booked Clipperton to ride Trepidation in the feature sprint after the mare's previous rider Noel Harris decided to stick with the Alexander Fields-trained Ginner Hart in the $NZ250,000 race.
Clipperton became an attractive option for McNab because of his ability to ride light. Trepidation will carry 53kg in the Telegraph.
Stewards noted Trepidation was held up between the 500m and 300m when before finishing strongly for fourth in the Group I Railway Stakes (1200m) at Ellerslie on New Year's Day.
